Evade Tax is Illegal!

Last Friday I was in mamak with a gang of friends, and one of them work as tuition assistant in a tuition center, and here is her real story.

She has been working as a tuition assistant in a tuition center for over 1 year and her scope of work including cleaning the tuition center (like a cleaner), sending documents for photocopying (like a office assistant), and teaching tuition (like a teacher). And her paid only RM 350 at the beginning and just increased to RM 400 a couple months ago.

Few weeks earlier, her boss (the tuition center owner) asked her to provide her identity card (IC) photocopy for income tax matter. And she saw her boss had put RM 700 as her salary in the income tax form.

She has keep her pay slip as a proof that her monthly paid only RM 400. Obviously her boss has breached the Income Tax Act (Akta Cukai Pendapatan 1967 (Akta 53) Pindaan Sehingga Akta 1349 Tahun 2009). Continue reading

Have You Paid Your Income Tax ?

Today is the deadline of Income Tax Return Form (BE 2009) submission for for individuals without business source, and employment and other incomes (Does Not Carry on Business).

And for those who has business (Form B 2009), your due date is 30th June 2010.

If you haven’t submit your form yet, please stop here and quickly visit the nearest IRBM branch or submit via e-hasil online.

After submission, please do not forget to obtain a receipt and verification which certify you have submitted. Beside that, you can also write down the name of person in charge who receive and accept your submission form, his/her position in branch and official stamp.

After declare the income tax, where to pay your income tax?

IRBM accept the following payment option and you are freely to choose which way is more convenience for you.

  1. Payment At Bank (CIMB and Public Bank)
    Payment can be made by cash, cheque, and instruction to debit account or telegraphic transfer at all CIMB and Public Bank Berhad (PBB) branches throughout Malaysia.
    *When making payment at the bank, the bank paying in slip for tax payment, which can be obtained from all CIMB and PBB branches, has to be filled. This slip must be kept as proof of payment.
    **IRBM will not issue an official receipt for payments made at the bank.
  2. Payment Code At the Bank
    084 for payment code, and
    99 for installment number.

    • Cash payment – fill in name, income tax reference number, identification card number and the year of assessment for which the payment is made.
    • Cheque payment – write your payment details at the back of the cheque ( name, income tax reference number, identification card number and the year of assessment for which the payment is made ). Cheque has to be in the name of ‘Director General Inland Revenue’.
  3. Payment Made Through ATM Public Bank Bhd (PBB)
    Use PBB ATM card. Your income tax reference number is needed to facilitate the transaction.
  4. Payment Made Through ATM Maybank Bhd (MBB)
    Use MBB ATM card. Your income tax reference number is needed to facilitate the transaction.
  5. Payment Made Through Internet
    Via FPX

    • CIMB Bank (BCB Account Only)
    • Hong Leong Bank Berhad
    • Maybank2e / Maybank2U
    • Public Bank Berhad

  6. Payment Of Income Tax Monetary Transfers From Overseas
    By Telegraphic Transfer (TT)

    • Payable to : Director General Inland Revenue

    *The above information has to be faxed to the payment counter in Jalan Duta at 03-62016857 to enable an official receipt to be issued.

    By Bank Draft

    • Payable to : Director General Inland Revenue
    • Name and address of payer bank:- must be ?local paying bank? or ?local correspondence bank? Thus, the bank draft will be a local cheque.
    • Payment and payer details must be written at the back of the bank draft and then posted to the address below:-

    *Bank draft CANNOT be bought in RM. Therefore, please ensure that the currency exchange for the amount to be paid is accurate.

  7. Tax Payment For Individual Who Opts For Combined Assessment
    If the income of the husband or wife has been assessed jointly in the name of one of them, then the relevant party is responsible for payment of that tax. However, in certain circumstances, tax that is payable on the income of the husband or wife can be collected from either one in proportion to their respective income.

After you paid the income tax, remember to keep the receipt as proof.
