Well, you may not know about this foundation, but we should really pay attention to this foundation as it is quite important and many people may have needed it.

What is this foundation about ?

The Max Foundation is foundation which is dedicated to the patients who suffer from blood cancer(such as leukemia and etc.) and rare cancers worldwide.

What does this foundation do?

The Max Foundation has 3 ways to provide help to the people who need them.

1. Patient Assistance Program- The Max Foundation has partnered in the administration of Novartis’ Glivec International Patient Assistance Program (GIPAP), an unparalleled drug access program for Glivec.

GIPAP is accessible to eligible patients who:

  • are properly diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) patients and to patients with c-Kit (CD117) positive unresectable (inoperable) and/or metastatic malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs)
  • cannot benefit from any reimbursement or insurance scheme
  • are unable to pay for treatment privately as determined by pre-established socio-economic criteria
  • are in developing countries that have minimal reimbursement capabilities
  • are in developing countries where regulatory approval for Glivec has been obtained
  • are in developing countries where no generic versions of imatinib are available

Brief History of MRCS

The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) has its beginnings in 1948 as branches of the British Red Cross Society in Sabah and Sarawak (then British North Borneo ). In the 1950s the British Red Cross Society further established Branches in the other parts of Malaysia starting in Penang in 1950, and later in the other States.
