Best 24 Months Contracted iPhone 5 Plan – Celcom vs DiGi vs Maxis

Since the Celcom iPhone 5 packages has been revealed yesterday evening, everyone are not concern on which iPhone 5 plan is the best. However, there is no such thing, the best.

I’ve prepared a few comparison chart to compare the current 3 telecommunication providers’ (Celcom, DiGi and Maxis) Apple iPhone 5 plans as a reference guide for you to choose the affordable and suitable iPhone 5 plan.

If you’ve read my previous post ‘Contracted iPhone 5 – DiGi vs Maxis‘, you probably wonder why I compared the plans by their actual monthly commitment but not what the telco stated, for example iDiGi 138, I compare it together with Maxis iValue 1 but not compare the iDiGi 88 with iValue 1.

But if you compare carefully, you will found that actually their bundle usage are close similar, but the total payment for 24 months commitment + iPhone 5 device price will shock you. I hope by using this new idea to compare will give you a new idea and experience on how to choose a best plan for you.

We compare both Celcom Prime and DiGi iDiGi 88, DiGi iDiGi 88 bundle usage are more than Celcom Prime except internet data quota are very low. Although DiGi has the cheapest iPhone 5 device pricing plus 24 months total commitment, but the differences just about RM 200.

So, I would recommend Celcom Prime, due to,

  • DiGi coverage and network quality are poor.
  • 3 timex more data allowance.
  • Normally a postpaid user won’t need to use so much SMS

Maxis iValue 1 should be sufficient for a normal iPhone 5 usage. Celcom Prime plan bundle usage is quite less, because nowaday a normal postpaid users will definitely uses more than 267 units in a month. Try to image, 267 units divided by 30 days, it’s about 9 units per day for call + sms ?

I would still recommend Maxis iValue 2 if your usage is around RM 150 to RM 170. The reasons are similar to the usage around RM 100.

Obviously I would say Celcom Elite plan. You probably think that lthough there is only RM 439 to 459 more for Maxis iValue 3, but Maxis offers extra 1,000 minutes Maxis to Maxis call and 1,000 Maxis to Maxis SMS.

But please keep in mind that, during the 24 months contract period, whenever you send a sms to other networks, you will be charged RM 0.10/SMS, and 1,500 minutes (equal to 25 hours) is actually consider a lot for normal user, unless you’re a businessman or other special purposes, then will be another story.
