How to Change Start Menu to Use Large or Small Icons in Windows 7

Now we will show you how to set the Windows 7 Start Menu to display with either small or large icons in it’s pin to area.

Option 1:

  1. Right click on a Start button and click on Properties.
  2. Click on the Customize button under the Start Menu page.
  3. Uncheck the Use large icons box if you want to use Small Icons.
    Check the Use large icons box if you want to use Large Icons.
  4. Click on OK.
  5. Again Click on OK.

Option 2:

  1. Open the Start Menu, then type regedit in the search box and press Enter.
    Or you can press windows key + R, then type regedit and press Enter.
  2. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
  3. In Registry Edit, navigate to ‘

  4. In the right pane of Advanced, right click on Start_LargeMFUIcons and click on Modify.
  5. Type 0 (number zero), and click on OK if you want to use Small Icons.
    Type 1, and click on OK if you want to use Large Icons.
  6. Close Registry Edit.
  7. Restart the computer to apply.
