Few years ago I been in Vienna for a small 2 days trip. Where is Vienna ?
Vienna is the capital of the Republic of Austria and one of the nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria’s primary city and is by far the largest city in Austria, as well as its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 10th largest city by population in the European Union. Vienna is host to many major international organizations such as the United Nations and OPEC.
Vienna lies in the east of Austria and is close to Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. These regions work together in a European Centrope border region. With the close by Bratislava, Vienna forms a 3 million inhabitants metropolitan region, referred to as Twin City. In 2001, the city centre was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and in 2005 an Economist Intelligence Unit study of 127 world cities ranked it tied with Vancouver for first for the quality of life. This assessment was mirrored by the Mercer Survey in 2009 and 2010.
During these 2 days trip, I choose Wombats City Hostel Vienna – The Lounge as my place to stay. It was a bit risky at that time, because it was just opened only few weeks and has no much review. The factors influenced me to choose them is because they have another hostel in vienna called Wombats City Hostel Vienna – The Base. (Now they are going to open the 3rd hostel in vienna called Wombats City Hostel Vienna – The Naschmarkt). The good reviews for Wombats City Hostel Vienna – The Base gave me confident to try Wombats City Hostel Vienna – The Lounge.
I came from Vienna airport and took the shuttle bus to main train station – Westbahnhof and the hostel is really easy to find. The reception staffs was very nice and done everything in just a few minutes and I got my door card. The room was cleaned without any unpleasant smell. Absolutely not noise and very secure. Without the door pass, you even cannot enter the corridor because it was locked by a glass door.
At the time of my staying, Wombats City Hostel Vienna – The Lounge offer the following free services for me :
- Free Internet with computers available
- Free bedsheets
- Free towels
- Free Shampoo
- Free luggage storage
- Free Vienna Travel Guide
- Free loads of brochures
- Free 2 welcome drinks
- Free kitchen to use
- and many more I can’t really remember
The location also very excellent, beside hostel is a supermarket where you can get almost everything you want. In Wombats City Hostel Vienna – The Lounge also present guest kitchen with frying pan etc, you can buy foods from supermarket and cook yourself.
It was €24.00 per person. Now it increase to €29.00. But it still worth to stay. I strongly recommend you to try it if you go to Vienna.
